Artist's Statement
These two works were created for a Stop Asian Hate Rally and Vigil in my town of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, held on March 27, 2021. They were meant to raise awareness against the recent rise in anti-Asian hate crimes throughout America.
Bio
Serena Li is a current junior living in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. She has been painting and drawing her entire life and has received awards for her work in the Scholastic Art and Writing Contests, Mahatma Gandhi Art Competition, and Peace Islands Art and Writing Competition, among others. She especially loves to work with oil painting and pencil and enjoys studying art history in her free time to appreciate the long, nuanced history of artwork.
