I really wanted the background to stand out more because the piece is about all of the excuses I’ve heard when I’ve told someone that their comment wasn’t funny or told them to stop. My own family members have told me that I was being too sensitive, and that is me feeling bad about saying anything in the first place instead of just laughing. I feel and sometimes still feel like I make it a big deal, but this Asian hate has been talked about a lot recently and has helped me open up about my experience, even if I’m not fully Asian
