"Self-Portrait." Oil on canvas. by Serena Li.
I decided to paint my self-portrait because as a fan of art history and oil painting, there has hardly been any Asian representation in such works throughout history. By painting myself, I wanted to leave my own mark, in a sense, in a style of art in which Asian faces are rarely seen.
